A commercial avenue with a colonial charm, The Whiteaways Arcade, built in the early 1900s, remains glorious till today, housing various retail outlets, cafes and restaurants, offices and even a tourist information centre.

The Whiteaways building was built at a time when commercial and financial activities were booming in the area. It was also regarded as one of the finest blocks of offices in Penang. Its impressive architecture features beautiful eclectic-style windows, Scottish cast iron columns and grand granite staircases. Its charm was further accentuated by a decorative facade with plasterwork of flowers and garlands.
